Islam as a religion is perfect in every way. The perfect society is an Islamic society.

We as humans have naturally been created to work together, create communities and derive our fulfilment through social interactions. And that is a scientific fact, to see it manifest in practical terms instead of just theory — all you have to do is take a look around you at the impacts lockdown is having on people.

So the beauty of Islam, in a way other religions and ideologies do not encompass as perfectly as Islam does — is derived from its mandatory system of community.

Ibn Umar reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The most beloved people to Allah are those who are most beneficial to people.

The seerah, hadith and verses from the Quran are endless in indicating the strong theme of unity in Islam. Islam is not an individual religion, we are not monks nor are we allowed to practise in isolation. Our ummah and working together in a joint effort is our responsibility, concern and identity.

Why do the secular people, government bodies and western societies fear our religion? It is because we do not believe in embodying the truth simply in our lives, we don’t stop there — we embody the truth everywhere around us. They fear us, because our religion creates changes and deep rooted impacts on society as a whole. They fear us because they are aware of the strength and power that comes from the unity of our ummah.

May Allah allow ourselves to purify ourselves and work together with the Muslims around us to practise Islam in its true form.
