Through the Red Sands

A poem dedicated to the underrated beauty of the Australian landscape;

The land welcomed; embraced

their touch

The red earth whispering her name

Calling out to her

The family torn and disassembled

Brought together once more

In this one embrace

As they travelled the stretched-out plains

The landscapes ever changing

A frightening yet beautiful mirror

to their ever-changing hearts

A hidden truth was made clear

A reality discovered

Refusing its fate

The land fought fiercely

protecting its territory

Miles from water and moisture

The driest of airs

under the harsh Australian sun

Fighting and surviving

It flourished and thrived

As a spark of green in the red

A symbol of hope

In a place of no life

It created life.

I dump some of my raw, unedited thoughts, emotions and ideas here, some refined ones too. It’s a bit of a chaotic, wonderful, mess. Dare to venture within?
